Hi girls!

I am so excited to write my first blog about REIKI!! I am not going to assume that everyone knows of Reiki and its magical powers (I kid, but I do believe reiki is magical) so I am explaining tid bits in this blog.

Below, I have copy & pasted  Prakash Nam's definition of Reiki. I have also included links to things on the photos so be sure to click them through out so you can dive a bit deeper.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a sacred Japanese healing art for the purposes of deep relaxation and wellness.  The word Reiki is Japanese and translates as “Universal Life Force Energy”.  Reiki is the cosmic life force energy that flows through all living beings.  It is a balancing, intelligent, and harmonizing energy that heals on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.  It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.  A Reiki practitioner has the ability to guide, direct, and share Reiki with others.

Reiki is not affiliated with any religion.  It is not massage or a substitute for any qualified healthcare.  Reiki is for everybody.

Also I want to say when searching for a reiki healer, go with who you feel called to. They don't have to have a fancy website etc. Just go with whoever speaks to you.

This #wellnesswednesday I paid a visit to my reiki healer, Prakash Nam, at The  Dharma Yoga House in Dana Point, CA. I wanted assistance with aligning my chakras using Reiki. She also uses her instruments and gives a sound bath during the session, it is my favourite thing ever. Reiki is energy healing with love.  This is where you can attend different yoga/restorative classes with just a donation! We had the whole room to ourselves and I immediately slipped into a deep relaxation because the room was warm and I was laying on the ground. I loved being on the ground vs. a table because I simply feel more "grounded."

Depending on what's going on with me, how I am feeling etc., Prakash Nam will put certain oils on my hands. One of the oils I LOVE is "Sacred Mountain" by "Young Living." It is amazing for grounding, it has an earthy smell and I keep that oil with me at all times now. I especially like to have it with me when traveling because it makes me feel calm when I am anxious from being away. Yesterday we used LEMON! Yay, happy smell! lol. Lemon is a scent that ignites joy, and that it did. We also use certain stones that agree with my body at the time. If you know me, you know I am a collector of stones since I was a young girl so I love stones for healing. (I will do a post about stones for healing later on as well).

Now the reason I love reiki so much is because I truly believe our body is a physical temporary thing with a whole beautiful universe inside. We have to take care of our spirit soul. I feel like we get so wrapped up in this temporary world. We get so caught up with "STUFF"  and over consumption of things...it's poison to the soul in my opinion. We get caught up with our "needs" thinking we need more temporary things...more "STUFF." It's important to take time to take care of ourselves, but on a deeper level than a facial or a mani pedi. Those things are helping our external physical being...that is temporary. What is beyond that, is our soul.

Why was I so desperate for some energy healing?

We recently moved on a whim, into the perfect space for us (so thankful). But moves can be stressful. It is especially trying when you are trying to get things set up (wifi etc) and settle in so you can live your best life again. We also recently had to deal with the outcome of a "fender bender." As we all now, there is nothing positive that comes from a car wreck. We also had to spend the entire next day in the ER getting my boyfriend checked out due to the effects of the impact. This all brought up negative emotions for both of us. As an empath (we will go more into that another day), I don't recover from things emotionally the way my boyfriend does or your average human for that matter. My body holds onto the emotions and feelings and it feels GROSS. Thats the best way I can describe it, gross. So...it was time for a reiki session to re-align those chakras and breath in some love.

How it kind of works...

With reiki, the energy that is being transferred goes where it needs to go in the body. I don't like to say imbalance, but that is the best way I can describe it. The energy from your healer goes to (for instance) my throat chakra or my heart chakra that need the energy, it just flows. The mixture of the energy work + the sound bath is just amazing. You wish you could live in that hour forever. Every time I have had reiki...which has been A LOT, I have different experiences during. Yesterday I more so felt my body on the ground, I was slipping into a light sleep, but also felt myself looking down at my body. That was a first for me, like I said every time is different and every healer is as well. My previous healer and I would talk during, I never really fell asleep during. Its not necessary to sleep but yesterday I did and I LOVED it! My boyfriend, Josh, usually has the cooler experiences with it. I always like to have him try these things with me, he loves it too.

I think taking care of ourselves in these kinds of ways is what helps us in the long run, it is practicing self love helping us to show more love to the world. After my session I feel more balanced and the main word that comes to mind is "peace." It clears the "noise" in my head.  After the healing part of the session, we discuss the experience and how I am feeling. I always like to ask what she can tell me about what's going on with me. We always talk before and after and I just love it. Reiki truly is love. I have purchased reiki sessions for people as gifts, its the best gift for someone who is maybe going through something or having a hard time with stress etc. Give them the gift of reiki, it's a beautiful gift. Also give the gift to yourself, we need to slow down and take care of that soul in there. I will talk more about this in o introduction too! It has been the most healing experience for me, it helped me to grow so much and helped me to let go of things no longer serving me. I used to go once a week for months when we lived in Austin, it is what brought me back to feeling like the best version of myself and here I am!!

How do I feel today?

Well I passed out early so peacefully. I woke up early feeling at peace as well. I felt like I could move through my day smoothly. I feel calm. That's all I wanted, calm. I tend to let things I cannot control get the best of me, I need the extra help to calm me sometimes.

Please post any questions or comments below, I love hearing from you guys. I will share more about my reiki experiences in the future. I never felt so amazing in my life until doing energy healing work with healers. So I hope you give it a go if you haven't yet!

Sincerely,
